dc.descriptionIn studying the consequences of Sustainable Behavior (SB), a number of researchers focus on the psychological antecedents that determine environmentally protective behaviors. When the psychological consequences of SB are considered, researchers mainly study extrinsic reinforcers of sustainable acting, which in spite of their undeniable power in stimulating sustainable behavior, present some inconveniences that limit their capacity to maintain such a behavior. The present study was aimed at testing the idea that a significant relationship exists between SB –studied as proecological, altruistic, frugal, and equitable actions– and the intrinsic consequences (satisfaction, self-efficacy, and autonomy) that result from those sustainable behaviors. Thirty-hundred-and-sixty undergraduates reported the frequency of their engagement in sustainable behaviors as well as their experiencing states of satisfaction, autonomy, and self-efficacy. A structural equation model was specified and tested, including factors representing SB and the positive intrinsic consequences. The measurement model confirmed the proposed factorial composition and indicated that the positive consequences saliently and significantly were related to sustainable behavior.en-US
dc.descriptionAl investigar las consecuencias de la Conducta Sustentable (CS), un buen número de investigadores se enfoca en los antecedentes psicológicos que determinan el cuidado del medio ambiente. Por lo general, cuando se atiende a las consecuencias psicológicas de esta actuación, los investigadores estudian reforzadores extrínsecos, que, a pesar de su innegable poder en el control de la CS, presentan inconvenientes que limitan su capacidad de mantener dicha conducta. El presente estudio trató de probar que existe una relación significativa entre la CS –estudiada como comportamientos proecológicos, altruistas, frugales y equitativos– y las consecuencias intrínsecas (satisfacción, autoeficacia, autonomía) que acarrean esas conductas sustentables. Se aplicaron instrumentos de autoreporte a 360 estudiantes universitarios, para investigar la frecuencia con la que se involucraban en conductas sustentables y la intensidad con la cual experimentaban estados de satisfacción, autonomía y autoeficacia. Mediante un modelo de ecuaciones estructurales se especificaron y probaron factores que representaban la CS, por un lado, y las consecuencias positivas intrínsecas, por el otro. El modelo de medición comprobó la composición factorial propuesta y señaló que las consecuencias positivas se relacionan de manera significativa y sobresaliente con las conductas sustentables.es-ES
