Descripción : This essay proposes the potential of the neighborhood park to be experienced and appropriated by its population from a perspective of its social actors, being the case study the park of the Pan American Unit colony in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua which has the characteristic of the demographic aging of its residents. Thus and in consecuense the historical trend of this border city was analyzed in terms of open public space related to neighborhood parks and its public policies oriented towards the elderly, currently protagonists of its use, because its number increases significantly and they have a greater availability of time, finally design recommendations are presented for the equipment of the site incorporating the experience and participation of the elderly as well as the theoretical conceptualization regarding the architectural and participatory project workshop of the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez that include at the realization of specific proposals to improve the quality of life of the site.
El presente ensayo plantea el potencial que tiene el parque vecinal para ser experimentado y apropiado por su población desde una perspectiva de sus actores sociales, siendo el caso de estudio el parque de la colonia Unidad Panamericana en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua el cual cuenta con la característica del envejecimiento demográfico de sus residentes. Con base a lo anterior se analizó la tendencia histórica de esta ciudad fronteriza en cuanto a espacio público abierto relativo a parques vecinales y sus políticas públicas orientadas hacia el adulto mayor, actualmente protagonistas de su utilización, debido a que su número se incrementa de modo significativo y cuentan con una mayor disponibilidad de tiempo, finalmente se presentan recomendaciones de diseño para el equipamiento del sitio incorporando la experiencia y participación de las personas mayores así también se presenta la conceptualización teórica referente a taller de proyecto arquitectónico y participativo de la Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez que tomo parte en la realización de propuestas puntuales para mejorar la calidad de vida del sitio.
