Description:	We present a qualitative research that was carry out with the objective of knowing the use of institutional resources related to digital bibliographic sources in a public university. In this study, 59 professors participated and it took placed in the five locations of a public university in Sonora during the months of January to June 2017. In order to collect the information, focus groups were held with professors and the results of the institutional indicators were analyzed with respect to the use of digital resources such as databases. The analysis is oriented from an institutional and cultural perspective using some concepts of recent work on digital literacy and theoretical concepts of Pierre Bourdieu and Cornelius Castoriadis. Cultural and ideological aspects were considered to cover the demands of accrediting organisms and other institutions that regulate academic practices in Mexican universities and the real use of the digital resources by professors, who not only teach different academic contents, but also design curricular programs offered that directly affect the use of these resources also in their students. The results show that in spite of the generalized digital media in the social and educational context, its use is still incipient, mainly due to the lack of strategies and management by the teachers and other academic authorities. Se presenta una investigación cualitativa, realizada con el objetivo de conocer el uso de los recursos institucionales relacionados con las fuentes bibliográficas digitales en una universidad pública. El estudio se llevó a cabo con profesores de las cinco unidades académicas de una institución ubicada en el estado de Sonora durante los meses de enero a junio de 2017. Para recolectar la información se realizaron grupos focales en los cuales participaron 59 profesores, se entrevistó al personal encargado del área de biblioteca y se analizaron los resultados de los indicadores institucionales respecto al uso de los recursos bibliográficos digitales. El análisis se lleva a cabo desde la perspectiva institucional y cultural, utilizando algunos conceptos de trabajos recientes en torno a la alfabetización digital y conceptos teóricos de Pierre Bourdieu y Cornelius Castoriadis; se consideraron aspectos culturales e ideológicos de cara a las demandas de organismos acreditadores y otras instituciones que regulan las prácticas académicas en universidades mexicanas y al real aprovechamiento de dichos recursos digitales por parte de los profesores, quienes no solo imparten clases, sino también diseñan los programas curriculares que se ofrecen en la institución y que inciden directamente en la utilización de estos recursos también en sus estudiantes. Los resultados muestran que pese a lo generalizados los medios digitales en el contexto social y educativo, su aprovechamiento aún es incipiente, debido principalmente a la falta de estrategias y gestión de docentes y otras autoridades académicas.
